Homeotherm (warm-blooded)

A homeotherm is an animal that can regulate its body temperature by means such as perspiring, shivering and adjusting blood flow to the body surface areas. Humans, dogs and cats (in fact, all mammals) are homeotherms. Animals that can regulate their own temperature are known as “warm blooded”.

Mnemonic depicting warm blooded animals can perspire, shiver and adjust blood flow, all mammals are homeotherms

Think of a domestic cat that’s lost its fur having to turn up its built-in thermostat to stay warm at home. You could call it a home-meow-therm (homeotherm).
