Heliotropism

The motion of plants in response to the sun’s direction, for example sunflowers.

Heliotropism is the movement of a plant with response to light direction meaning a sun flower for example will move as the sun moves across the sky

Sunflowers move their flower heads as the sun travels across the sky.

Thermotropism

Movement or growth in response to temperature, for instance the leaves of rhododendron plants fold up in cold weather.

Thermotropism is the movement of a plant with response to temperature the rhododendron plant curls its leaves in cold and opens widely in warmth

Thigmotropism

Movement or growth in response to touch or contact, for instance the Venus fly trap.

Thigmotropism is the movement of a plant with response to touch for example the venus fly trap closes when prey lands or comes in contact with the plant

Chemotropism

Movement or growth in response to chemicals, for example a pollen tube growing towards the ovule of a flower.
