Personification – human characteristics to an animal or object (think – one part or a bit)

Personification is giving human characteristics to animals or objects.

The difference between anthropomorphism and personification is: personification is a small bit (one human trait), whereas anthropomorphism is turning the “whole” into a human being.

Personification is giving human characteristics to animals or objects.

 

In personification, the object or animal seems like it is doing something human.

 

Examples

1.  The stars winked at me.

2.  Tears began to fall from the dark sky.

3.  The leaves danced across the lawn.

4.  The thunder roared in the evening sky.

5.  The cat’s ghastly singing woke me.
