Scalene

Scalene triangle - is one in which all three sides are different (and no angles are equal).

A scalene triangle has 3 sides of different lengths

Scales (scalene) on lots of fish in the sea but every scale is different.

 

Examples

A scalene triangle, to show the sides have different lengths a number of small lines crossed through the length shows how many lengths are unequal

A scalene triangle with all three sides different lengths.

An example of a scalene triangle with sides and angles of different sizes

With all three sides different each angle will be different too.

An example of a scalene triangle with different lengths of sides

A triangle with three sides of different lengths will be scalene

An example of a scalene triangle with sides of different sizes

A triangle with sides 6cm, 8cm and 10cm would be a scalene.

An example of a scalene triangle with sides of different sizes

A triangle with three different angles will be scalene.

 

NOTE:

As well as all the sides being different lengths, all the internal angles of a scalene triangle are different.
