Decimal to fractions

Before we show you how to convert decimals to fractions in the next sections, you must learn the following:

When you convert a decimal to a fraction always write out the following:

  `0` `.` `1` `1` `1` `1` `1` etc
      `darr` `darr` `darr` `darr` `darr`
      `1/10` `1/100` `1/1000` `1/(10,000)` `1/(100,000)`

This will enable you to work out where the last digit in the decimal stretches to.

Example 1

Where does `0.5` stretch to?

  `0` `.` `5`
      `darr`

  `0` `.` `3` `5`
        `darr`
        `1/100`
