Cardinal numbers

Indicate counting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc)

The order of something (1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th etc)

Names something (shirt number7, number 48 bus etc)

Cardinal is counting, while ordinal nearly says order and nominal nearly says name.

Examples

1. Cardinal numbers

A count of things is a cardinal number

Examples of cardinal numbers would be 22 cars, 2 puppies or 6 friends.

2. Ordinal numbers

An order number is an ordinal

Examples of ordinal numbers would be the 3^rd in line of a queue or the 2^nd fastest.

3. Nominal numbers

A number naming something is nominal such as 36 bus or shirt number 7

Examples of nominal numbers would be shirt number 7 and bus number 36.
