1.  Conjunction – a junction between two parts of a sentence

Conjunction is like an intersection of roads (it even has a T in it, like some junctions!). It is a junction between two sentences.

 A conjunction is what makes a sentence flow

Grandma held a glamour (grammar) party. Everyone went to the shops at the corner junction (conjunction) to get their glamour (grammar) and fancy dress clothes.

Examples of conjunctions include:

because, but, and, so, yet, for, nor, as, where, when

There are many more.

NOTE:

Some words can be more than one part of speech – for instance, “when” can be used as an adverb as well as a conjunction – but we are only concerned at this stage with their use as conjunctions.
