bisect – to divide an angle or shape exactly in half
(pronounced bai-sect)
To remember the meaning of bisect, use the following mnemonic:
Buy secateurs (Bisect) and cut sticks in half.

The term comes from the Latin words 'bi' (meaning two) and 'sect' (meaning to cut).
You bisect a line as follows:

Measure the halfway point between A & B.

You now have the bisection point.

Using a compass, ruler, and pencil, the following explanation will show you how to bisect an angle.
The compass is placed where both lines intersect and an arc is drawn.

Place the compass on one of the points where the arc intersects the line, then draw a smaller arc in the middle.

Without adjusting the compass, repeat this arc from the other point of intersection.

Using a ruler draw a line from the initial point through the point where the two smaller arcs intersect, this will bisect the angle.
