What are number bonds?
"Number bonds" are a way of showing how numbers can be combined or split. Given a number its number bonds are any pair of numbers that will add up to that number.
Below is the number bonds for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 shown pictorially and numerically.
Students should be able to number bond to the number 1000 easily.
Why?
This should teach you how numbers can be broken into pieces to make addition, subtraction, division and multiplication easier.
