Mammoth Memory

Environmental Projects – Projects to protect, conserve and repair the environment; because Mother Earth gives to us, we should show respect for her

To remember the meaning of the Hindu term Environmental Projects, use the following mnemonic:

The environs of the city looked mental after competing projects (environmental projects) to conserve and repair the area were completed.

Note: Environs is defined as the surrounding area.

Hindus believe that the earth, nature and natural forces should be respected. This regard for the environment is warranted in return for the rich bounty provided by the earth in terms of food, climate and natural beauty.

There is a Hindu story that tells of the life of Vishnu in the Vrindavan forest, which has led followers to believe the forest should always be cared for and protected. One Hindu charity in India has the aim of protecting the country's sacred forests, saving trees and educating people about environmental protection.

Many Hindus are trying hard to make the right choices, from recycling and reducing their carbon footprints to volunteering to ensure that they look after the environment.

Because of their belief in karma, Hindus are thoughtful about how they treat the earth: they believe their actions will have consequences. Their commitment to "do no harm" extends to the way they use and help the environment.

According to the Bhagavad Gita, an important Hindu scripture, The gods will give you the food of your desire. Whoever enjoys their gift, yet gives nothing, is a thief, no more, no less.
