Blind spot – the missing part of the picture in your eye

The optic nerve joins up with the eye in the middle of the retina, causing a blind spot. It’s like plugging a TV’s power lead into the screen, which means you get no picture in that area. However, the brain is able to compensate and “fill in the gap”.

The eye has a blind spot where the optic nerve enters the eye, all light project on the optic nerve will not be processed by rod and cones meaning most animals can be blind on one specific view
