Justice – Fairness in the way people are treated, one of the key moral principles

To remember the meaning of Justice in Judaism, use the following mnemonic:

It was just his (justice) way – he wanted everyone to be treated fairly and made sure everyone had an exact equal share of food, right down to the last pea.

Judaism has a passionate dedication to the ideal of justice.

Justice, ethics and morality are taught in the Torah and by the Jewish prophets – these three qualities are religious ideals and obligations rather than just good behaviour.

Apart from being encouraged to care for others, the Jewish people are also warned against corruption, bribery, misuse of power, and mistreatment of workers.

The Torah specifies rights for women and other groups and teaches the ideal of justice for the benefit of society and the moral guidance of the individual.
