Corrupt – dishonest or unreliable

To remember the definition of the word corrupt, use the following mnemonic:
They saw the core erupt (corrupt) and the nuclear power station officials were turning into lizards with forked tongues (lying, dishonest) and denied anything had happened.
Other words that have similar meanings to corrupt include unscrupulous, unprincipled, amoral, untrustworthy and deceitful.
It's not just people that can be corrupt – for instance, the hard disc of a computer can be said to be "corrupt" (ie, unreliable) if it malfunctions.
