Ensue – Happen or occur soon after and as a result of another event
(Pronounced en-syoo)
To remember the definition of the word ensue, use the following mnemonic:
End suing (ensue) because at the moment everyone sues immediately after the event.
Examples of ensue in a sentence
Punishment ensued as a result of disobedience.
A fight ensues that eventually ends when one of the women brings a brick crashing down.
We can only imagine the problems that ensued when the rule of Rome collapsed.
