Exhort – Try hard to persuade someone to do something
(Pronounced ex-zawt)
To remember the definition of the word exhort, use the following mnemonic:
My ex was the sort (exhort) who would do everything in his power to persuade me to do things I didn't want to do.
Examples of exhort in a sentence
I exhort you to follow the speed limit or risk being arrested.
Since you're my best friend, I exhort you to stop smoking so you will have a long life.
