Insurrection – An act of rebellion against an authority or government

(Pronounced in-suh-rek-shuhn)

To remember the definition of the word insurrection, use the following mnemonic:

They inserted large fence posts for the erection (insurrection) of a giant fence to prevent the rebellion getting through to the government.

Due to lack of support and poor planning, the insurrection was a complete failure.
