Nepotism – The practice, among those with power, of favouring their relatives

Never bother posting a position (nepotism) vacancy; it's a waste of time. It always goes to a member of the family. 

Examples of nepotism in a sentence

His promotion was blatant nepotism, his father owned the business and he was clearly underqualified for his new position. 

He tried to deny the accusations of nepotism, but the fact that all the management positions were filled by his family members made it hard to believe. 

She was denied the promotion she had worked tirelessly towards due to nepotism, the promotion instead went to the managers brother who never did any work.
