Yokel – an uneducated person uninterested in any form of culture and from the countryside
(Pronounced yoh-kuhl)
Note: This can be considered a derogatory term.
To remember the definition of the word yokel, use the following mnemonic:
She'd rather yoke all (yokel) her oxen than go to school. She was therefore uneducated and wasn't interested in anything but working in the countryside.
