Hallucinates Dagger (act 2, scene 1)

Banquo and Fleance walk into Macbeth's castle, troubled by the late hour and their unsettling dreams. Macbeth joins them, and Banquo mentions the witches' prophecies, which Macbeth dismisses, and lies claiming he hasn't thought about the witches. After Banquo and Fleance leave, Macbeth hallucinates a bloody dagger, leading him towards Duncan's chamber. He interprets this vision as a sign of his impending bloody deed, fuelled by ambition. The ringing of a bell signals that Lady Macbeth has completed her preparations for Duncan's murder by drugging the gaurds. Overwhelmed, Macbeth heads to Duncan's room, ready to carry out the assassination. The scene ends with Macbeth preparing to commit regicide, spurred on by his ambition and the witches' prophecy.
