Mammoth Memory

Macbeth Confident (Act 5, Scene 3)

He demands his armour from Seyton.

Macbeth is in Dunsinane Castle, dismissing reports of the approaching English army and boasting about the prophecies that protect him. He dismisses his scared servant boy who tells him a ten thousand army approaches. He calls for Seyton who takes a while to appear. Macbeth reflects that this is a win or lose situation but he recognises his life has had all the goodness sucked out of it and people around him hate him. He demands his armour from Seyton. The doctor informs Macbeth that Lady Macbeth is tormented by "thick-coming fancies" and cannot sleep, to which Macbeth coldly orders the doctor to cure her. Macbeth then sarcastically asks the doctor if there are any medicines that will cure Scotland of its disease and cast out the English. Macbeth remains confident due to the witches' predictions, clinging to the idea that no man born of woman can harm him.
