Milk – le lait
(Pronounced lay)
To remember that Milk is pronounced lay (lait) in French, use the following mnemonic:
A bottle of milk was what the hen would lay (lait) every day – the farmer was amazed!
Lait is masculine, so it’s le lait. Imagine the early learner pouring the hen’s milk into his baby bottle.
