Winter – l'hiver
(Pronounced ee-vair)
To remember that Winter is pronounced ee-vair (hiver) in French, use the following mnemonic:
Winter always had the same effect on Eve's hair (hiver) – it curled up and looked frosty.
Hiver is masculine, but it begins with a silent "h", so it's l'hiver. Imagine our early learner impersonating a snowman in the winter.
