Aerobic Respiration
Aerobic means ‘with oxygen’. Aerobic respiration uses oxygen and glucose to create energy in the form of ATP molecules which every cell in the body uses. Aerobic respiration is the most efficient way of creating energy from glucose, but not as quick as anaerobic respiration at creating energy.
Glucose + oxygen → carbon dioxide + water + energy
To remember that aerobic respiration means with oxygen use the following mnemonic:
Imagine an heir to the throne wearing robes being taken quickly (aerobic) through his fields on an ox (with oxygen).
