Implicit – Suggested or implied rather than expressly stated
(Pronounced im-plis-it)
To remember the definition of the word implicit, use the following mnemonic:
The imp had an illicit (implicit) gun, but no one dared suggest that he should surrender it.
Examples of implicit in a sentence
I know you never stated I could use your car, but permission was implicit when you gave me your car keys.
He threatened me and although he didn't speak clearly, I understood his implicit gestures.
Carol and her partner have an implicit understanding that neither of them would see other people while dating.
