K or C Rule

The kur sound at the beginning of a word, do you use C or K?

To remember if a word is spelt with a C or K at the beginning of a word, use the following mnemonic:

If the next letter in the word is an a, o, or u, you are going to start the word with a C. If it is an i or e, you are going to start the word with a K. 

Next letter a o u = C

Next letter i e = K

First way to remember C or K

Use this ditty:

C takes a o u 

K takes the other two.

Second way to remember C or K

Draw a cats face using the letters a, o and u:

The other two, i or e, must be K.
