Witches Prophecies (Act 1 Scene 3)

The three witches convene on a heath after one was killing swine and another was planning revenge on a sailor. They are soon joined by Macbeth and Banquo, returning from battle. The witches hail Macbeth as Thane of Glamis, then as Thane of Cawdor, and finally as king hereafter. Banquo questions the witches about his own future, and they predict that his descendants will be kings. Macbeth is intrigued and wants to know more but the witches vanish.
Ross and Angus arrive, informing Macbeth that he has been named Thane of Cawdor, fulfilling the witches' second prophecy. Macbeth is now considering the implications of the prophecies, particularly the possibility of becoming king. He ponders the witches words, and the idea of murder, while Banquo remains cautious. The scene ends with Macbeth and Banquo agreeing to discuss the prophecies later.
