Witches Apparitions (Act 4, Scene 1)

Macbeth visits the witches' cave seeking answers about his future. The witches conjure three apparitions: an armed head warning him to beware of Macduff, a bloody child assuring him none of woman born shall harm him, and a crowned child holding a tree predicting he cannot be defeated until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane. Macbeth demands to know if Banquo's descendants will also reign, and the witches show him a vision of eight kings, all resembling Banquo, followed by Banquo's ghost. Macbeth is disturbed by this vision but the witches disappear. Lennox then arrives, informing Macbeth that Macduff has fled to England. Enraged, Macbeth resolves to kill Macduff's family, including his wife and children.
