Mother – la mère
(Pronounced mare)
To remember that Mother is pronounced mare (mère) in French, use the following mnemonic:
She was a mother of several children but still found time to be the town’s mayor (mère).
As you would expect, mère is feminine, so it la mère. You really don’t need any reminder that mothers are female!
