October – le octobre

(Pronounced ok-toe-brah)

To remember that October is pronounced ok-toe-brah (octobre) in French, use the following mnemonic:

The octopus (October) was amazed to find an octagonal cobra (octobre) swimming towards it at the bottom of the sea.

The octopus (October) was amazed to find an octagonal cobra (octobre) swimming towards it at the bottom of the sea.

NOTE:

The way Mammoth Memory remembers October is to think of an octopus. See our Remembering Months section.

Please also note that the names of the months in French do NOT have a capital letter at the start, so it’s juillet, NOT Juillet.

The months of the year in French are all masculine, so it’s le janvier, le février, le mars, le avril, le mai, le juin, le juillet, l’août, le septembre, l’octobre, le novembre and le decembre.
