Power – le pouvoir

(Pronounced poo-vwahr)

To remember that Power is pronounced poo-vwahr (pouvoir) in French, use the following mnemonic:

Pooh Bear had little power of resistance. Pooh couldn't stop increasing his reservoir (pouvoir) of honey.

Pouvoir is masculine, so it’s le pouvoir. Imagine the early learner as a policeman with the power to arrest you.
