Seafood – le fruit de mer

The seafood freed the mayor (fruits de mer) from his cell.

Fruits de mer is masculine, so it's le fruits de mer. So imagine the early learner eating seafood in the sea.

NOTE:

"Fruits" is masculine and "mer" is feminine, but because "fruits" comes first and is the most important part of the phrase, "fruits de mer" is, overall , masculine.
