Heliotropism
The motion of plants in response to the sun’s direction, for example sunflowers.
Sunflowers move their flower heads as the sun travels across the sky.
Thermotropism
Movement or growth in response to temperature, for instance the leaves of rhododendron plants fold up in cold weather.
Thigmotropism
Movement or growth in response to touch or contact, for instance the Venus fly trap.
Chemotropism
Movement or growth in response to chemicals, for example a pollen tube growing towards the ovule of a flower.
