root – la raíz
(Pronounced rrah-eeth)
To remember that root is pronounced rrah-eeth (raíz) in European Spanish, use the following mnemonic:
The roots of my plants have been ruined, that rabbit with it's big teeth (raíz) has chewed through them all.
Raíz is feminine, so it's la raíz. Imagine a lady with roots instead of legs.
