Water – el agua
(Pronounced ah-gwa)
To remember that water is pronounced ah-gwa (agua) in Spanish, use the following mnemonic:
Mixing the water with the special ingredient resulted in a goo...ah!

Agua is masculine, so it’s el agua. Imagine an elephant blowing a massive water fountain out of its trunk.
Note: when referring to plural 'waters', agua is feminine (e.g. Las Aguas)
