Monocots and dicots – the leaf
One of the obvious differences between a monocot and a dicot is the leaf:
Monocot
The veins are parallel to each other.
Vertical
Or horizontal
Parallel in one line (mono = 1) (monocot).
Dicot
The veins split into two each time like a network.
Split into two (di = 2) (dicot).
