Grandfather – el abuelo
(Pronounced ah-bway-loh)
To remember that grandfather is pronounced ah-bway-loh (abuelo) in Spanish, use the following mnemonic:
Now my grandfather has great abs, but he used to weigh loads (abuelo).
It's so obvious that abuelo (grandfather) is masculine, that we're not including an elephant image.
