To remember that force is pronounced fwehr-sah (fuerza) in Latin American Spanish, use the following mnemonic:

The force of the flood took me somewhere new; now I'm sat (fuerza) on the top of a pyramid. 

Fuerza is feminine, so it's la fuerza. Imagine a lady using a lot of force.
