What is the natural note order on a guitar?

When you play any of the 6 strings on a guitar without pressing down on the fretboard (referred to as "open strings") the strings are normally tuned as follows:

Because we in the Western world read from the top down the order of the strings should be E B G D A E from a guitarists view point.

The letters E B G D A E are usually shown off the guitar neck before the first fret areas as the diagram above show. As is seen from the guitar players point of view.
