Line – An identifiable path
Lines are the artist's most basic tool. Lines, even without shading, can create brilliant artwork.
It's amazing what just a pencil can create using only lines.
Lines are often used as the 'outside edge' to show where an object finishes. This is usually referred to as an outline.
Lines can be used in all manner of styles. They can be vertical, horizontal, diagonal or curved. They can vary in length, width, weight and style. Lines can be continuous, broken, crossed or parallel. The variations of line are endless.
Lines can be used for following the contours or form of an object.
