Warm Colours – colours associated with warm things

Warm colours are associated with warm things and are found in the red, orange and yellow values.

To remember the warm colours, associate warm with things that give off warmth. Think of the sun and fire and this should remind you that the colours they give off are reds, oranges and yellows.

Vincent Van Gogh used warm colours on purpose to paint Sunflowers but he also used them in the yellow background to heighten the sense of heat from the sun.
