So the number starts 1.11

Remember the mnemonic above.

GET SMALLER, GET BIGGER.

So the number has got smaller so the index gets bigger:

11.1×108 becomes 1.11×109

Example 2

Change 0.6×10-4 to standard form.

So the number starts 6.0.
