Pianissimo (PP.) – Very quiet

(Pronounced pee-uh-niss-im-oh)

Note: abbreviated often to PP. (double quiet i.e. very quiet).

To remember what pianissimo means, use the following mnemonic:

Will she pee on this sumo (pianissimo)? The baby is very quiet, but she is full of surprises! 

Examples of pianissimo in a sentence

She played her harp in pianissimo style, so quietly it could barely be heard, but the quietness added to the mysterious quality of the piece.
