People can easily become confused by which exercises are frontal plane exercises. Frontal plane exercises are the left and right movements of the body.

To understand which exercises and movements occurs in the frontal plane, instead of imagining a single plane running left to right (or right to left) through the body, imagine two planes, one in front of the stomach and one just behind your back.

To understand which exercises and movements occurs in the frontal plane, instead of imagining a single plane running left to right (or right to left) through the body, imagine two planes, one in front of the stomach and one just behind your back.

Any movement that occurs within these two planes or sheets is a frontal plane movement.

This would therefore include such exercises as:

1/ Star jumps are frontal plane movements.

Note: Lateral means from the side or sides and occur between these two sheets.

3/ Lateral lunge is a frontal plane movement.

Again, lateral means from the side (or sides) and a lunge involves bending one leg on the floor and keeping the other straight.
