Closed Skills – Skills which are NOT affected by the surrounding environment (the performer uses the same technique every time and is in control of what happens next)
(Pronounced clohzd)
(Note: Closed skills tend to be done the same way each time.)
Closed skills occur in a stable environment.
To remember where a closed skill occurs, remember the following mnemonic:
The pool was closed (closed skills) off so the diver could practice her skills and not be affected by the environment.
An example of closed skills is a gymnast performing a floor routine. The performer uses the same technique every time because the environment ensures the conditions do not change.
