Physiological disease
Physiological diseases are caused by body malfunction.
Even the club physio’s logical (physiological) approach to the problem couldn’t put right the player’s body malfunction.
Examples of physiological diseases
1. Diabetes (inability to produce sufficient insulin, or inability to use insulin properly). Without insulin, cells cannot absorb glucose, which they need to produce energy.
2. Cancer – abnormal cells divide in an uncontrolled way. Cells multiply too much and cause tumours, also called “growths”.
3. Hypertension – high blood pressure.
4. Heart disease – a whole range of conditions including defects in heart muscles or valves and problems with heart rhythm.
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is an example of a physiological disorder.
