Remember the meaning of telesales is easy if you split up the word:

Tele = Telephone

Sales = Selling goods and services to the customer

Putting these together = Telesales 

Telephone sales = Telesales 

Telesales = Selling goods and services through telephone calls. 

Telephone sales or telesales can be used to phone potential customers in the hope of making a sale. This is called ‘cold calling’. However, telesales can also be used to phone up a customer who received a quotation but have yet to place an order. The telesales person will try and persuade the potential customer the benefits of using their company.
