3 part ratio and dealing with fractions
To work on ratios with fractions
Get rid of the fractions
(we only work in integers)
By
Multiply each fraction by the other fraction's bottom number
Example 1
Simplify the following ratio which has fractions
`1/3:2/3:4/3`
Because the bottom denominator are the same, to turn these into whole numbers multiply each ratio by `3`.
`(1 timescancel3)/cancel3:(2timescancel3)/cancel3:(4timescancel3)/cancel3`
`1:2:4`
And because there is a one in the ratio we know this ratio can not be simplified any further.
