To help you remember what the letters FITT or FITTER stand for, think about what happens when you first join a gym:

1/ F = Frequency.

The first thing you do when you join a gym to get fitter is thinking about how often you'll be frequenting (frequency) the place. Maybe three times a week?

2/ I = Intensity.

Then you go to warm up on an elliptical cross trainer and set up the resistance. You could make it quite intense (intensity).

The dial next to it sets how long you will carry out this exercise (time). You are a bit shocked that it shows a time of 24hrs.

4/ T = Type.

After your warm up you can now choose a different type of machine. You are quite confused because there is a vast array of different machines to choose from, which type should you choose next?

That's all you need for your exam, but remember some personal trainers go on to discuss E for Enjoyment and R for Recovery Time. If you want to remember these letters in the acronym FITTER then think about how you could add to the story above.

1/ Enjoyment. What's the point of doing exercise unless it's fun. Choose exercise like tennis or on a treadmill or any exercise you enjoy. Discuss this with a personal trainer or with a friend. Enjoyment is important.

2/ Recovery Time. How long between each training exercise is important. Whether it be for body builders or runners, the amount of nutrition you need is also an important factor in aiding recovery.
