Reaction Time – The time taken to initiate a response to a stimulus

(Pronounced ree-ak-shun time)

Example: The time between the starter's gun firing and the moment the sprinter moves out of the blocks.

On average, the reaction time is between 0.16 and 0.2 seconds among most people. However top-tier athletes can show reaction times of 0.15 seconds or less.
