Metre – number of feet in a line of poetry
Like a 1 metre length, which has 3.28 feet, metre in poetry is the number of feet in each line.
Metre is the number of feet in a line of poetry.
The foot creates a rhythm made up of a set of large hits (stressed) and/or soft hits (unstressed).
NOTE:
Avoid if you can the word “beats” when it comes to poetry, otherwise it gets very, very confusing.
